Being on board an aircraft is generally an exciting adventure for children. If your little ones are well prepared beforehand, you as parents can also travel free from stress.

On board with children
Entertainment on board

To help prevent boredom, our crews hand out puzzles, colouring books and other toys on most flights. On long-haul flights, we entertain our younger passengers with films for all ages, computer games and our children’s music channel.
Child restraint systems or child car seats
A child restraint system, a child car seat or a baby basket can be used on board to increase passive safety for infants and young children. In the case of infants, you must book a separate passenger seat for the flight. Use of the seat is voluntary.
Child restraint systems
You can find examples of approved child restraint systems here:
Child car seats

You can take your child’s car seat on board the aircraft if your child is under 12 years of age and weighs less than 27 kg. In the case of infants, you must book a separate passenger seat for the flight. The car seat must be approved for use in aircraft and must fit on a SWISS seat (43 cm x 43 cm). Please note the label on the child’s car seat. Although you are responsible for fitting the seat, our crew will be happy to help you.
Baby cots
Cots are available in all flight classes on long-haul flights and in Business Class on European flights. They are suitable for babies up to 8 months old, weighing a maximum of 11 kilograms and measuring up to 67 cm. This gives your baby enough space to lie comfortably. The number of cots is limited, so please be sure to contact our Service Centre in good time. You can reserve a baby cot and accompanying seat free of charge.
Comfort-enhancing items for your trip: What is allowed on board?

You may use items to increase travel comfort on board, provided they do not affect flight safety and the travel comfort of other passengers.
As per the regulations set out by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC), you have the right to a complimentary advance seat reservation on flights to and from Italy if you meet the following criteria: you are travelling with a child between 2 and 12 years of age and/or you are a passenger who has a disability or are accompanying someone who does. The Lufthansa Group will ensure you get a complimentary seat next to one another at check in.
