Newest SWISS Flagship Office Opens in New York
21. Juli 2003
New York, N.Y., July 17, 2003 – “New York is the biggest and most important city in the entire world. Nowhere does one get more exposure than in this town at a location between Fifth and Madison Avenue.” This according to Marcel Biedermann, Vice President of the Americas for Swiss International Air Lines.
On the evening of July 10, 2003, SWISS celebrated the grand opening of the airline’s newest Travel and Sales office at 10 East 53rd Street, in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The evening was co-hosted by Travel + Leisure, the world’s leading travel magazine, and SWISS’ advertising and promotional partner for the event.
Mr. Biedermann eloquently continued, “We believe it important to take good care of relationships in a very personalized manner, face to face and with a professional and courteous staff. This new office offers our customers a classy environment to conduct business in.”
From the terrazzo floor to the Swiss oak world map and rear wall with Swiss cross motif; the classical leather chairs designed by Charles Eames to the unique architectural design, this office effectively integrates all of Swiss International Air Lines’ corporate design elements to present an image of precision, efficiency and cleanliness – all three of which are known to be Swiss ideals that were pointed out by Swiss Ambassador Raymond Loretan, who took the podium to welcome SWISS to their new home following Mr. Biedermann’s address.
Speaking about the importance of the magazine’s relationship with SWISS, Robert Tramondo, Vice President and Associate Publisher of Travel + Leisure noted, “SWISS represents all that is right in the airline industry, and the opening of this office only confirms that.”
Joined by Ambassador Loretan and Mr. Tramondo, Mr. Biedermann used a pair of ceremonial scissors to cut a red ribbon and officially open the office to the world.
Guests, who included dignitaries, celebrities and top clients, were then treated to the elegant music of the Amy Platt Jazz Trio, a beverage selection direct from the First Class Cabin, featuring Greg Norman Wines and Nespresso, and Swiss specialties such as Bünderfleisch and Raclette potatoes.
To round out the evening, SWISS and Travel + Leisure joined forces to raffle off a dream vacation to one lucky attendee. The winner received a round-trip Business Class trip for two on SWISS to Zürich, including rail transfers to St. Moritz and a five night stay in a junior suite at Badrutt’s Palace.
With the opening of this office, New York joins Zürich, Bern and Tokyo in offering a SWISS flagship Travel and Sales office.
