Check-in at Zurich and Geneva Airports
In combination with online check-in, you can drop off your baggage at Zurich and Geneva Airports up to 23 hours before departure.
Early check-in means you can check in your baggage up to 23 hours before departure for flights operated by SWISS and Edelweiss Air departing from Zurich and Geneva Airports. Take advantage of the benefits of online check-in, and have your boarding pass sent to your smartphone or e-mailed to you to print it out yourself. Plan to check in your baggage at a quieter check-in time. That way you can go straight to the departure gate on the day of your trip without your baggage and without time pressure.
Please arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare. We generally recommend you arrive around 2 hours before departure (short-haul routes) or 3 hours before departure (long-haul routes). But also look out for the personalised information in your pre-flight e-mail, on your boarding pass and at the individual airports.

Conditions for checking in the day before
You will need your boarding pass if you want to check your baggage in on the previous day. Get your boarding pass from our automated check-in or with our online check-in in just a few steps either sent to your mobile phone or for you to print out yourself.
This is how it works:
Step 1
Get your boarding pass from automated check-in or check in online up to 23 hours before departure. Print your boarding pass out in the comfort of your own home or have it sent to your mobile phone.
Step 2
Refer to the optimum time windows in order to check in your baggage as quickly as possible at the airport.
Step 3
Check in your baggage at the desk or use Self Bag Drop at your chosen time. Remember to bring your travel documents and boarding pass.
In order to better plan your check-in the day before, please be aware of the expected passenger volume at Zurich Airport as outlined below.
We recommend you plan your travel to avoid the following peak times.
It is not possible to check in the day before for flights departing from Zurich after 21:45 h.
It is not possible to check in the day before for flights departing from Geneva after 20:00 h.

This service is also provided at Zurich and Geneva Airports for the following airlines checked in by SWISS: Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss Air and Croatia Airlines. For all other flights, please refer to the airline in question.
For flights to the USA, due to the requirements of the American authorities, all travellers in a group (e.g. family) must be present at bag drop.
