The Doctor on Board programme from Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and SWISS

Doctors participating in the “Doctor on Board” programme are there to help us if medical assistance is required on board. Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and SWISS express their gratitude for your participation with the following:

  • 5,000 Miles & More miles on your next flight
  • A copy of “Flugmedizin und ärztliche Hilfe an Bord” [Aviation medicine and medical assistance on board]
  • A Doctor on Board bag tag exclusively designed for participants in the programme
  • the opportunity (for a fee) to attend a course run by Lufthansa Aviation Training and to receive CME points while doing so

Your medical speciality is stored with Miles & More at registration so that cabin crew members can call on you in a medical emergency. A medical panel of different medical fields is possible if there is more than one doctor on board.

Doctor on Board courses

We are delighted to be able to offer our programme doctors a Doctor on Board course once again. Courses are held in Zurich and carried out by Lufthansa Aviation Training.

The legal position is safeguarded for the treating physicians: doctors on board are protected against any legal recourse claims by the passenger concerned under the Deutsche Lufthansa AG liability policy taken out for cases of this kind. Of course, this does not include malicious intent. This indemnification applies to doctors and any competent lay helpers.
