#1 Flight selection
Detours not only cost time, but also aviation fuel. So choose a direct flight whenever possible: SWISS offers direct flights to over 110 destinations worldwide to get you to your destination quickly and efficiently.
Also, more sustainable flying is now easier with the new Green Fares. The SWISS Business Green and SWISS Economy Green fares enable you to fly more sustainably by using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), which reduces flight-related CO2 emissions and offsets the remaining CO2 emissions by contributing to high-quality climate protection projects. The new Green Fares can be booked on SWISS Business and SWISS Economy flights.
In addition to the newly introduced Green Fares, passengers also have the alternative of offsetting the CO2 emissions of their flight with SAF and/or offset projects before completing the booking process on swiss.com.
#2 Baggage
Every extra kilo increases paraffin consumption and thus CO2 emissions. Therefore, travel with luggage that is as light as possible.
#3 Travel
Sustainable travel starts with the journey to the airport. Use public transport to get to the airport, for example via the SWISS Air Rail service.
#4 Paperless travel
Digital services such as mobile boarding passes, the SWISS app or the download-reading function of our digital SWISS Magazine are not only convenient and practical, but also more sustainable. Even with your travel reading, you can reduce your carbon footprint by using journals.
#5 Boarding
Every flight delay causes additional emissions - on the ground as well as in the air. So get to the gate on time and help avoid unnecessary delays.
#6 Waste
SWISS is taking various measures to try and avoid on-board waste as far as possible. Guests can also make a decisive contribution to waste avoidance: avoid waste by only using those items on board that they really need on a flight, such as the blanket on long-haul flights.
By taking advantage of our pre-order or pre-select services before your flight, you can avoid food waste by loading your food according to your preferences.
Furthermore, you can reuse items that are handed out to you - either during the flight or after the flight, such as cups or water bottles.
