Marrakech: realm of the senses

The 1,000-year-old royal city of Marrakech has evolved into a metropolis with two faces over the last few decades. But the warmth of its inhabitants remains un- changed. While some of them still live an almost medieval life, others have adopted the latest material comforts.

Let yourself be carried away into the magical world of Marrakech.

The Old Town or Medina is the heart of the city, while the modern New Town boasts a surprising number of fashion- able restaurants and elegant shops. Arabic tradition blends with Western lifestyle, such as at Menara Airport, which was opened by King Mohammed VI at the end of 2017 and is widely regarded as one of the finest in the world. Another highlight: the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, which has been attracting long lines of visitors since it opened in October 2017. The tourist boom extends to the rest of Marrakech, too. Never before have so many people set out to explore the famous Red City. Almost 9 million did so in 2018!
