Airbus short-haul fleet
For our short and medium-haul flights we rely on the proven aircraft models supplied by the European manufacturer Airbus.
Airbus A321-100/200 / A321neo
Code: 321
The A321-111 is used on short and medium distances with high passenger volumes. The aircraft has 219 seats and a cargo capacity of 4.3 tonnes. With a length of 44.5 metres, the Airbus A321-111 is the 'big brother' of the A320 family; it is about one-third longer than the Airbus A319. SWISS uses this aircraft type within Europe and between Switzerland, Africa and the Near East.

Innovative Airspace Cabin for the optimum comfort
Thanks to the slender side panels, the innovative Airspace Cabin of the Airbus 32X family offers you even more personal space in the shoulder area. Plus the new Airspace Cabin also holds 60 percent more hand baggage than the baggage compartments of the previous generation. Which means that looking for somewhere safe to put baggage close to the seat is now a thing of the past.
Another highlight that makes travelling on board the A320neo even pleasanter is the new flexible light system. The Human Centric Light adapts to our passengers' natural biorhythm, bathing the cabin and washrooms in warm shades of red or cooler shades of blue depending on the flight phase and the time of day. The lighting concept increases your well-being, which means it also helps to make the arrival at your destination easier for you. Hygiene levels have also been increased on board thanks to the antimicrobial surfaces in the washrooms of the Airspace Cabin.
Airbus A320-200 / Airbus A320neo
Code: 320
We use Airbus A320 and Airbus A320neo aircraft on flights with a range of up to 3,600 kilometres. They have 168 to 180 passenger seats and a maximum freight capacity of three tonnes. Aircraft of these types travel for SWISS within Europe and between Switzerland, Africa and the Near East.
Special features of the A320neo
The advanced engine technology of the Pratt & Whitney engine (geared turbofan) and the aerodynamic wing tips (sharklets) of the A320neo result in a significant reduction in fuel consumption of up to 20 per cent. The aircraft are also fitted with noise-reducing vortex generators as standard. The take-off noise footprint of the A320neo is approximately 50 per cent lower compared to equivalent aircraft types.
