The Global Entry Program allows expedited clearance for frequent travellers to the USA. After approval by the U.S. customs authorities, entry takes place at an automatic Global Entry kiosk at selected US airports. Global Entry membership also entitles the holder to use TSA Pre✓® at the security checks.
Global Entry Programm
Persons with the status "conditionally approved" are able to hold their pending Global Entry interview in Switzerland. Interviews will take place on 12-15 August in Zurich and on 16 August in Bern.
The advantages
The Global Entry Program offers a number of advantages when entering the USA. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has launched the Global Entry Program to make it easier for people who travel frequently to the USA to enter the country via US airports. Persons participating in the program can complete their formalities for entry into the USA at a Global Entry Kiosk after prior security screening and subsequent admission.
Process
Nationals of selected countries are able to apply for the program. Once the application has been submitted, a preliminary review is carried out by fedpol and the U.S. customs authorities. When this has been successfully completed, you will be considered a low-risk traveller (conditionally approved). Once you have been awarded low-risk traveller status, you must complete the participation process within 365 days. Applicants are then instructed to make an appointment for an interview at one of the Global Entry Enrollment Centres or at a temporary location designated for Global Entry interviews. After a successful interview, you will be admitted to the Global Entry Program and can benefit from simplified entry.
Membership is valid for five years. Global Entry speeds up the entry procedure, but does not replace the ESTA travel authorisation or - if you are staying in the USA for longer than 90 days - a U.S. visa.
