2023 - A Year Full of Highlights

The end of the year is an excellent opportunity to pause and celebrate our achievements. The trust of our passengers, the support of our business partners and the commitment of the SWISS team have been the wind beneath our wings that propelled us to new heights. For this we would like to thank you. Let us now look back together at 2023 and share with you some personal SWISS highlights. 

2023: A Year Full of Highlights

2023 was a year full of highlights, milestones and changes for SWISS. Having finally put the coronavirus pandemic behind us, SWISS has successfully asserted itself in the marketplace and is setting clear signals for a sustainable future. We look back with pride on what we have achieved, thanks to our valued passengers, our unique team and our business partners. The highlights of 2023 at a glance

January: The year begins with SWISS's traditional appearance at the 93rd Lauberhorn Race and a highlight at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where CEO Dieter Vranckx gives an insight into SWISS's commitment to sustainability.

February: On February 6, SWISS flies a Swiss rescue team from Zurich to Adana in Turkey on a special flight to the earthquake zone. 

March: SWISS launches SWISS Senses, a new, more personalised travel experience to be introduced in 2025. SWISS also launches a national sustainability initiative and presents various measures and projects for more sustainable air travel.

April: SWISS opens new lounges at Geneva and Zurich airports, raising passenger comfort to a new level.

May: As part of an anniversary competition, an Airbus A220-100 is christened Via Mala. SWISS also launches a new TV campaign under the slogan "Travel is what you make of it".

June: An exclusive visit by Swiss Federal Councillor Albert Rösti and SWISS's participation in Zurich's Pride Parade are the highlights of June.

July: The legendary "Olympia" aircraft, HB-IOC, goes into well-deserved retirement. 

August: SWISS gives a behind-the-scenes look at its demanding summer operations and performs at Weltklasse Zürich. 

September: The last long-haul aircraft grounded by the coronavirus pandemic, an Airbus A330 with registration HB-JHH, returns from Jordan. SWISS also announces the addition of Toronto and Washington to its long-haul network from 2024, and christens a SWISS Airbus A220 with the name Bad Zurzach as part of Zurich Airport's 75th anniversary celebrations.

October: SWISS operates special flights from Tel Aviv on behalf of the Swiss Confederation. SWISS also underscores its social commitment by cooperating with the Pigna and Sternschnuppe foundations, and by flying the Swiss national football team to its European Championship qualifying matches.

November: Together with the Swiss Air Force, SWISS offers young SPHAIR graduates a unique flight experience. SWISS also receives the bronze Edi.23 award for its successful travel campaign.

December: The year comes to a close with the LXMas social media campaign and many festive highlights for the SWISS community.
