Sherline, how long have you been with SWISS, and what’s your present job?
I joined our company as a flight attendant 12 years ago, and I’ve been serving in our First Class for the past seven years. I’m a ‘galley tiger’ – whether it’s in First or Business, I just love coordinating all the galley activities. But I also enjoy being one of our PR flight attendants and attending all those various and unforgettable SWISS events .
Have you had any particularly memorable moments?
One for sure: the delivery flight from Seattle of our first Boeing 777. Our crew for that were together for a whole five days, which really gave us time to bond as a team. It was an amazing experience!
How do you get away from your SWISS working life?
Well, I’m the mother of two children, aged five and two. And from spring to late summer I run my own bar – the ‘Soleil’ – in Schaffhausen. Which actually allows me to extend my passion for hospitality into my leisure time, too! I just love looking after my guests and giving them magic moments.

Have you made friends through your SWISS work, too?
Yes: I have several work colleagues who I meet up with privately. And a number of our crew members have also come to the Soleil. How well you get to know a fellow crew member tends to depend on the destination. On some rotations, like Miami, we’ll often spend an evening having a barbecue together. Or we may arrange a bike tour, as we recently did in San Francisco. But on other rotations like New York, the crew members will scatter in all directions with their own long shopping lists…
Do you have a favourite destination?
I’ve always enjoyed Shanghai and Beijing, especially because of how safe these cities feel: I’ve never been afraid of anything happening there. And in the US I particularly like Chicago and Miami. Our Miami rotation’s quite a demanding one. But with those crew evening barbecues and with the beach so close by, a Miami layover feels like a mini-vacation.
