What do the SWISS outstations do?

SWISS operates a modern fleet of around 90 aircraft. Before every flight, our aircraft are checked to ensure that they are in perfect technical condition. And we do this both at our home airports in Zurich and Geneva and at all of our more than 100 destinations worldwide.

A check before every flight

SWISS flies to over 100 destinations worldwide with a fleet of around 90 aircraft. Before departure, each of our aircraft undergoes a technical check. In this way, we ensure that each of our aircraft is in perfect technical condition to carry our passengers to their destination. At our sites in Zurich and Geneva, our aircraft engineers carry out these checks.

But who takes care of these mandatory checks at our destinations outside Switzerland? We usually work with local service providers who carry out these checks and minor maintenance work on site.

But SWISS also operates such external stations on its own. At a total of 12 locations in 11 countries, a team of highly trained aircraft engineers takes care of the technical inspection and handling of our aircraft. In this video, Reto Blasi gives us an exciting insight into this work. Using the example of our outstation in Athens, he explains what a day's work looks like and what activities are involved.
